Guide request: how to CS +15 for us noobs

Hey, I’m super casual and super dumb, but how do people old shine and +15 gear?
what I mean is, what is the proper way to do it without breaking the equipment too many times, which catalysts am I supposed to use?
Is it normal to break often?

This is my personal method

+0 to +1 with no catalyst
+1 to +10 with normal catalyst
+10 to +12 with strong catalyst(if I have them) if I don't have any I then use secret catalyst
+12 to +15 with secret catalyst

No Shine to Dimly with normal catalyst
Dimly to Shiny with normal catalyst, but if this fails between 3-5 times, I'll use secret catalyst
Shiny to Cold with secret catalyst
